Conflict between Giza Municipality and Reconstruction and Housing Bank over Date for National Project Draw; Zayed and October Projects Applicants Excl

There was a dispute over the date for the public draw of the housing units of the 'National Project for Social Housing' in Giza.

While the Giza Municipality said the draw would take place on Saturday at the Tersana Sports Club stadium, the Reconstruction and Housing Bank said that it was not yet ready for the draw, and that the Municipality did not inform the club well in advance, as there are some maintenance works at the stadium, which would not allow holding the draw there.

Yet the Municipality still decided to hold the draw on June 24 without informing the bank's officials, as the Giza Governor Sayed Abdel Aziz decided to hold it at the Hilmi Zamora Stadium of the Zamalek Sports Club for four days, especially since there are 25,000 applicants for 6,000 units.

A source with the bank told Al-Masry Al-Youm it is difficult to hold the draw in June when the income statements are done.

On another note, turning 6th October City and Helwan into independent governorates a year ago has excluded their residents from the project, as they are no longer residents of Giza. The bank did not inform them of this decision, and they did not get their down-payments back. Also, the residents were not given alternative units in the 6th October City project.

The applicants told Al-Masry Al-Youm that they only have the private sector projects now, which are too expensive.
